The Taxpayers Fairness campaign is now officially launched!
The inception of the Taxpayer Fairness campaign was many years ago. With the founders’ success with The Stop The Off-payroll Tax, now is the right time to proceed to the next level – a Taxpayers Fairness Act.
We wish to see better treatment for UK taxpayers, particularly small businesses and individuals. Unfortunately, there is evidence that tax authorities undermine the rule of law, leading to taxpayers becoming victims of taxing authorities’ abuse.
How a country’s tax system is administered is critical to the success of a country’s economy.
- Where a tax system’s administration is fair, transparent, predictable and consistent, people can engage in economic activity with confidence and certainty.
- Where a tax system’s administration is unfair, opaque, uncertain and inconsistent, the risk exists, and people are wary of engaging in business.
The basis of reform must ensure the tax authorities maintain strong powers to enforce and administer the tax law of their country but be subject to more robust oversight, transparency, and accountability, with checks and balances aligned with the rule of law.
We seek a bill of Taxpayer Rights to create a fairer, just, transparent and accountable tax administration system that enhances voluntary compliance, efficiency and revenue collection in the UK.
